Yes, but with caution. Retinol is photosensitising in the presence of red, irritated skin or existing lesions. It should therefore be used with extreme caution or even avoided in the summer. If your skin has been irritated by sun exposure, or if you have reddened skin in general, the product would greatly sensitise the area. Also, if you have lesions (acne scars or inflamed blemishes) it could further exacerbate the problem, and in some cases even cause dark spots. If you do choose to use it in summer, it is advisable to only apply it in the evening. In the morning and during the day, you should use SPF50 protection instead.
